We are excited to share the outstanding results from the J-Quiz; Upper Midwest High School Japanese Language and Culture Competition organized by Japan America Society of Minnesota (JASM) this weekend. Six Shakopee teams participated in the competition in three different language levels and demonstrated much stronger performance than other teams from the Twin Cities and Wisconsin. Below is the results and the photos.
Level 1 (Japanese 1)
1st place: Chandra Tran, Luth Kairulhuda, and Nick Nguyen
2nd place: Joshitha Panguluri, Lucian Rojas, and William Baker
Level 2 (Japanese 2)
1st place: Davonte Chounlamontry, Alexia Mosbarger, and Brooke Sorah
3rd place: Lyn Nguyen, Zainab Beg and Mariah Carson
Level 3 (Japanese 3)
2nd place: Thea Lauren Pineda, Samyuktha Ravikumar, and Cera Mitchum.
Level 2 winning team will receive a scholarship from JASM to go to Washington, D.C. to compete at the National Japan Bowl in April.
Please congratulate these students, especially the Japanese 3 team members. Thea, Samyu and Cera didn’t have their Japanese 3 class in the 1st semester, so they studied after school weekly to cover the study materials. Considering the situation, it is amazing that they scored 100 % on the composition and placed second in the competition.
Please also note that Thea won the J-Quiz T-shirt design contest and we all wore it with pride!
