Girls Tennis

Girls Tennis Program Overview (Fall 2023)

The Shakopee Girls Tennis program consists of 3 different teams (Varsity, JV and 10A). The season typically starts in mid-August and usually finishes near the mid to end of October.

Varsity, JV and 10A tryouts take place the first week of tennis starting Monday, August 14th.

Varsity tryouts start Monday, August 14th from 9-11:30am at West Middle School. Tryouts will take place from 9-11:30am during the week of August 14th-18th until the Varsity team has been decided. All 7-12th graders are welcome to tryout for the Varsity team. If 7th and 8th grade students do not make the Varsity team, they may not be able to play on JV or 10A teams. This is dependent on the number of 9-12th graders we have trying out for girls tennis. Once registration numbers are in, the program will determine whether 7th and 8th graders will be able to play on the JV and 10A teams.

JV and 10A tryouts start Wednesday, August 16th from 12-2pm at West Middle School.

All 9-12th graders will be placed on the Varsity team, JV team or 10A team during the first week of tryouts. If 7th and 8th graders will be able to participate on the high school teams, they will also be placed during the first week of tryouts.

As for all sports, busing is provided to and from away matches. There is also an activity bus after school to bring students where they need to go for practices and home matches.

*Concussion testing will be scheduled with our Athletic Trainer. We will provide more information once we have an update from Ashley.

*Picture day for Varsity, JV and 10A players will be on Friday, August 25th at 8:30am at Shakopee High School. I will attach the order form once I receive it.

*Practice times for Varsity will be from 9-11am through Friday, August 18th. Starting Monday, August 21st, practices will take place from 3:30-5:15pm.

*Practice times for JV and 10A will be determined by the coaching staff when the season begins.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

*Please read the following information from the athletic/activities office about Parent Volunteers this school year:

Shakopee Families - The Activities Office needs your help to run our home events! As some of you are aware, the Activities Office uses volunteers to scan tickets, supervise, and run the penalty boxes. Volunteers give about six hours of their time (3 total shifts) and in turn earn activity passes for the season. Signing up for the pass is easy - register to be a volunteer and then use the Dibs system to pick your shifts. Everything is done through our website (www.shakopeesabers.com). If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please go to www.shakopeesabers.com/volunteer. You can sign up to be a volunteer by going to the following website: https://shakopeesabers.sportngin.com/register/form/508024431

The Activities Office is looking for about 186 volunteers to fill shifts for the year. Thank you so much! ~Crissy Shoemaker - Shakopee Activities Office
